Troy & Joan McAfee

The Carl Owen McAffee Scholarship was established during the Endowment Association’s Scholarships Making it Happen campaign in 1991 by his parents, Troy W. and Joan McAfee. Mr. McAfee was the brother of Melinda McAfee, executive director of the Butler County Community College Endowment Association. He died in December 1983 at the age of 25. Carl was the valedictorian of Missouri Military Academy, Mexico Missouri, in 1978. He was a winner of numerous academic awards. He graduated from Kansas State University in Manhattan, Kansas in 1982. He had an enduring interest in piano music and art, especially cartoon art, and sculpture.
