Tom Cour, Jerry Cour, Carole Widick

The Russell & Eva Cour Scholarship was established in 1993 in memory of Russell and Eva Cour by Tom Cour, Jerry Cour, and Carole Widick, their children. Both Russell and Eva had strong commitments to learning and were supportive of educational opportunities in Butler County. Russell was the third generation Cour to farm land in Eastern Butler County. When ill health forced him to give up farming, he was hired by the Department of Agriculture and rose to the position of statewide auditor. Eva was born Eva Guinty nearing Elbing, also in Butler County. Eva taught in county schools in Prospect and Midian Townships. She later worked for The El Dorado Times newspaper and the Butler County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation office.
