Richard Porter Memorial

Richard Porter Memorial

The Richard Porter Memorial Fund was established in 2006 to honor Dr. Richard A. Porter. Funding for the Richard Porter Memorial has come entirely from an annual golf tournament which began in 2006. The tournament will continue as long as there is interest, and the profits will be added to the scholarship fund annually. Mr. Porter was a 1964 graduate of El Dorado High School, and a 1972 graduate of Butler Community College. Mr. Porter received his Bachelor of Science from Wichita State University in Biology and Chemistry in 1974 and obtained a Master of Science in Biology in 1978, also from WSU. Mr. Porter spent more than 30 years working for the City of El Dorado, beginning in the Public Safety Department then progressing to Recreation Director, and finishing as Director of Public Utilities. He taught Anatomy and Physiology at Butler in the evening for 22 years.
