Juanita Swift
George Swift, business instructor and chairman of the business division, died in a plane crash on the morning of October 9, 1973, near Cassoday. An experienced pilot, he had logged many flying hours for professional as well as personal activities. In addition to his business classes, Mr. Swift taught ground school flight courses and sponsored the junior college flying club. He also was president of the newly organized Kansas Higher Education Association and had served on numerous local, area, and state committees in the interests of improved educational standards. Swift was a Major in the Kansas National Guard, a member of the El Dorado Lions Club, and an elder in the El Dorado Christian Church. His involvement with students, fellow-workers, campus activities, and his many personal interests left a vast number of persons to mourn his death, in addition to his wife Juanita and daughters, Diana and Denise. Relatives, friends, student groups, and other groups responded substantially in contributing to the George E. Swift Memorial Scholarship Fund.
