Jim Herren

The Jim Herren Football Scholarship was established by Jim Herren in 2008. Jim graduated from high school in 1957 in Glassport, PA. He attended El Dorado Jr. College from 1957 through 1959 while playing football. He lettered for two years and was named the Team MVP and co-captain. He later attended Omaha University where he lettered in football for two years. He was also named the Team MVP while at Omaha. Jim played pro-football in 1963 for the New York Jets. He played in the Wheeling Ironmen United Football League/Continental Football League from 1963-1965. Jim taught and coached in various public high schools for more than 30 years. Jim has been inducted into the Glassport High School Sports Hall of Fame, he is listed in the Who’s Who among American High School Baseball Coaches, and has been inducted into the Minor Professional Football Hall of Fame. Jim is a veteran having served in the US Army from 1962 to 1963. Jim enjoys hunting, fishing, and snow-skiing.
