James Patton Memorial
The Colonel James F. Patton scholarship was established in his memory by friends and family in 1983. Col. Patton was killed in an explosion of a United States Air Force cargo plane while on a mission in Turkey. In1982. He graduated from El Dorado High School in 1954 and from Butler County Community College in 1956. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Omaha. Mr. & Mrs. Floyd J. Patton were the original donors to the scholarship honoring their son. Jim’s family continues to support this scholarship in his honor annually.
