In honor of Bob Peterson by John and Michele Banks

Mr. Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Banks have been lifelong friends. The Banks’ wanted to honor Bob’s commitment to Butler Community College Theatre through a scholarship. Bob has been a beloved Butler faculty member for many years. John and Michele have been longtime benefactors to Butler Community College Fine Arts and Butler Community College Foundation.
Bob’s Biography:
Receiving his initial theatrical training from nationally respected Dr. Karl C. Bruder at Emporia State University, Mr. Peterson has studied with Jon Jory of the Actors Theatre of Louisville and Ron Daniels of The Royal Shakespeare Company.
A published, award-winning playwright, his plays include “Heaven Ajar” a historical fiction dealing with the Coolidge presidency written in cooperation with President Coolidge’s son, John.
As an actor he has played a diversity of roles in regional and professional theatre – ranging from “Saunders” in LEND ME A TENOR to “Salieri” in AMADEUS. In film, Mr. Peterson had a leading role in Miramax’s “The Crude Oasis” directed by Alex Graves, and appeared in featured roles in “Casualties” starring Mark Harmon, and “The Good Things”, winner of the Deauville Film Festival Best Short Film Award.
A recipient of the Mary Jane Teall Award for Best Direction, Mr. Peterson has been cited by the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival for Meritorious Achievement in Acting, Writing & Set Design. In 2006 he was designated as a Kansas Master Teacher.
