Family of Jim and Mary Eaton

Family of Jim and Mary Eaton

For decades, Mary and Jim Eaton were stalwarts of the El Dorado community. Over that period of time, they created over three dozen businesses, created many jobs, contributed to the economy, and raised seven children. They participated with St. John’s church, community activities, and school functions. One of their most satisfying endeavors was training youngsters. They did not view employees as simply workers, but wanted them to take pride in their work, learn their jobs well not matter what it was, and be individually responsible. They had great empathy for those less fortunate, and often forgave grocery debts or greatly discounted them. They also had great respect for the nursing field. Mary’s twin sisters were nurses, other siblings worked in doctors’ and dentists’ office. Jim’s sister were also nurses with the eldest rising to head nursing services at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas. This endowment is intended to perpetuate their contributions to the community by providing financial assistance to future leaders.
