Family and Friends of Mike Smith

This scholarship was established to honor the life of Ted Michael Smith. Many people knew him as Mike, but others referred to him as “Smitty”.
Mike was born on January 31, 1975. He graduated from Augusta High School in 1993 and from Butler Community College in 1994. Smitty never knew a stranger and was always looking to see how he could help others. He grew up playing all sports, but especially loved baseball. He also loved hunting and other shooting sports. He participated in many sporting clay competitions.
During Mike’s time at Butler he worked as a student worker at the switchboard, Endowment office, and in the L.W. Nixon Library. Mike enjoyed writing and had many pieces published in The Quill. At the time of his passing, Mike worked at DJ Engineering in Augusta. He was passionate about his job and enjoyed sharing and teach others.
