Doug & Suzanne Coin

Doug and Suzanne Coin worked hard for Westar Energy in Wichita, Kan. and managed their spending to afford early retirement. Suzanne, a Butler alumna, decided to go back to school in the 1980s to get her degree. She decided Butler was a great place to restart her educational journey. Although both Suzanne and Doug both had good support systems in place when they were growing up, as a Butler student Suzanne quickly realized that many others in her classes did not have appropriate support. As new retirees, the Coins wanted to give back to their community and help support students along their educational journey by establishing the Doug & Suzanne Coin Scholarship during The Forever Butler Campaign.
