David Conner & Chris Conner

The Leoanrd L. & Ferne Conner Memorial Scholarship was established in 1982 by brothers David and Chris Conner in memory of their parents Leonard and Ferne Conner. Both Leonard and Ferne were residents of Cassoday, Kansas and members of the Cassoday United Methodist Church. Leonard was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Cassoday Lions Club and Township Board. He was also the first mayor of Cassoday. During his lifetime he was a jobber for Skelly Oil Company for 25 years, delivering gasoline and petroleum products to Cassoday residents, farmers, ranchers, and surrounding towns. He also was a bus driver for the Cassoday Schools, a custodian at Flinthills High School and a toll collector for the Kansas Turnpike Authority. Ferne was a stay at home mom and also drove a school bus for grade school children. Both Leonard and Ferne were staunch supports of the community and worked tirelessly to ensure the education system in both Cassoday and Rosalia were the best possible experience for their children and all students.
