Dale Covert
About the Delora Evelyn Demo & Dale E. Covert Nursing Scholarship: Dale established the Delora Evelyn Demo Scholarship in 1997 in honor of his sister Delora Evelyn Demo. In 2000 he established the Dale Covert Endowed Scholarship for Nursing. In 2003 the two scholarships were combined. Dale played on the 1942 Butler County Community College Basketball Team that was undefeated 26-0. Dale and Evelyn were siblings, she being the oldest of four children and he being the youngest. Both of their middle brothers had proceeded them in death. When Evelyn was ill she was in the Susan B. Allen Memorial Hospital in El Dorado and encountered many wonderful nurses who were Butler graduates and or students. Despite Dale’s love for athletics and his history of playing basketball for both Butler and K-State he decided to establish this scholarship for Nursing because “nurses truly help people.”
