Carter Zerbe Memorial

Carter Zerbe Memorial

Carter J. Zerbe was a 53-year resident of Augusta, Kan. He was the longtime publisher of the Augusta Daily Gazette until his retirement in 2004. Following his retirement, Carter served on the Board of Trustees for Butler Community College, where he was board chair for two terms. A strong proponent for education, Carter worked hard to voice the business case for improved student access with expanded and improved facilities, strengthened academic programs to enhance achievement, and development of training opportunities that lead to gainful employment. He was a tireless advocate for Butler Community College students, particularly returning adults who attended while balancing other work and life responsibilities.
